Ability

Do you have the ability, and the capability?

Your capability is all about your own ability to accomplish your vision and fulfill your mission, and to the right people and the right network you work with. It is about the design of your strategic plan and activities, your timing, the results you achieve as well as the quality of your allies, your staff and those who support you in doing what is needed.

The elements that define your ability and capability

Your goal

A clear goal is the singular pre-requisite condition to effectively promote and defend human dignity. It is your vision of how the world should be, your driving motor, and the very reason why you are here.

A clear vision and mission

A clear vision and mission

The most fundamental requirement to effectively defend human rights is a clear vision how the world should look like, a clear understanding what prevents the world from this state (= the problems that needs to be solved) and what needs to be done to solve these problems (= your mission). Everyone should be able to understand your goals.

A clear line of priorities

A clear vision and mission

A clear vision and mission

Effectively defending human rights needs cooperation and allyship. You will only be able to excel and achieve maximum impact in what you do when you apply strategic priorities to your work. These priorities need to be broad enough to last for several years, and precise enough to guide your activities.

Your Strategic Plan

Do you know how to accomplish your vision? Your strategic plan is your general plan for how to reach your goals. It can be a plan as short as two years, five years, or long-term, for 10 years or even more. It will help you focus your time and energy, define how you will succeed, in what context, and what means you must employ.

Building a strategy

You know what your organization does. And, you know how your organization hopes to change the world. But how exactly does each of your activities lead to change?

Your Activity Plan

Your plan of activities breaks down your strategic priorities into small bits and pieces. Conceived annually, and updated regularly, it defines your daily operations, assists you in ensuring that your activities and interventions are timely, and allows you to allocate the necessary time to get your work done. it gives you an overview how to plan your year, and is vital to define how much funding and support you will need.
